Christmas Party 2016
On Monday 5th December we had the most wonderful 2 Christmas parties at Soul Survivor! We had a huge crowd from our current groups in Watford, Hemel Hempstead and some new children from our Garston group all together for our first party 1-2.30pm. The party started with food for all, and we welcomed special guests Derek Grand Primo of the Buffaloes and Shirley Simper his Lady wife, The Lady Captain of the Ashridge Golf club Sue Taylor, Maxine Deputy, Alex Pearce Treasurer and Sarah Cullerne teacher from Westbrook Hay School with 15 children from the Charities Committee. We really missed Cedric Levitt on the day.
Our VIP was Santa himself [Brian Hughes] who did a stirling job in the sensory grotto which was lovingly designed and made by the Webb family again. The Fence club had donated all the beautiful presents for the grotto. Children took it in turns to see Santa whilst also making beautiful Christmas craft with our OT’s. Then the Westbrook Hay children sang “We Wish you a Merry Christmas” whilst signing in MAKATON, this was beautiful to watch ! Finally Ruth Collins led a Hartbeeps singing session for all the children in a big circle.
Our second party was for all the older children of Playskill who are at school, they also got to enjoy food and craft making as well as a magical trip into the grotto to see Santa and get a present. One child walked 8 independent steps up to Santa delighting her carer and us in there. Santa gave out a fantastic 80 presents in total and despite a tickling beard!!
